Born and raised in Idaho, CheRee Eveland spent nearly 25 years in the medical field before becoming an entrepreneur and building a successful event planning business.
Although firearms have been part of her life since she was young, it wasn't until she began taking formal firearms training that she discovered how much she wanted to understand—not just how to shoot, but the why behind firearm safety, responsible ownership, self-defense and personal preparedness. She also experienced firsthand how intimidating traditional firearms training can feel when you don't already know the terminology or even what questions to ask.
That experience inspired CheRee to create Valkyrie: the kind of welcoming, judgment-free training environment and mentorship she wished she'd had when she started.
Today, she brings together her medical background, entrepreneurial experience and perspective as a student to help create a place where women can ask questions, learn at their own pace and build real confidence without intimidation or judgment.

Desmond “Dez” Browning has spent much of his life around firearms, developing extensive hands-on knowledge of their operation, mechanics and safe handling. As an armorer and USCCA Certified Instructor, he brings both technical expertise and practical experience to his training.
His professional background includes years in motorsports working with BMW USA, Subaru, Porsche and Chevrolet Corvette, where precision, problem-solving and performing under pressure were part of the job. Dez also served as a Corporal in the Florida State Guard, supporting hurricane relief efforts and border-security operations under Operation Lone Star.
Dez works with students at every experience level—from someone holding a firearm for the first time to an experienced shooter looking to improve her skills. His teaching style focuses on explaining the why behind what he teaches, answering questions without judgment and making technical concepts easier to understand.

Kimberly Mills is the Founder and Lead Coach of KM Self Defense in Caldwell, Idaho. She has more than 15 years of experience teaching practical self-defense and holds black belts in both Krav Maga and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Kimberly brings a multidisciplinary approach to personal safety, combining awareness, communication, and physical skills. Her focus is helping people make better decisions under pressure and develop the physical skills necessary to take decisive action when it matters.
A lifelong student, she loves being in nature, reading, and journaling. When she’s not training or coaching, she’s probably hanging out with her cat, Tikka, or planning her next adventure.
At Valkyrie Arms, we believe responsible firearm ownership is about more than the firearm you carry—it is about the knowledge, judgment, and confidence of the woman behind it. We are more than a shooting facility. We are a women-focused firearms training academy committed to helping women become safe, skilled, and confident firearm owners.
If you have ever felt uncertain, overwhelmed, or intimidated by traditional firearms instruction, you are not alone. We created Valkyrie Arms to offer a different experience: professional, approachable, educational, and free from judgment. Whether you are handling a firearm for the first time or developing advanced defensive skills, we’ll meet you where you are and help you move forward with confidence.
Our Core Values

CONFIDENCE
You do not have to arrive confident. In fact, most of our students arrive feeling unsure, and that is exactly why we are here. Confidence isn't a prerequisite—it's the result of training. We meet you exactly where you are, replacing the
"I don't know how" with "I've got this."

CAPABILITY
We believe that practical skills are the antidote to uncertainty. We replace vague advice with clear, actionable knowledge. Whether you are learning to handle a firearm, responding to a medical emergency, or simply assessing your environment, our goal is to ensure you possess real-world skills that apply to your daily life.

COMMUNITY
Learning should never feel like a performance. At Valkyrie, there is no "macho" posturing and no judgment. You will learn in a supportive, female-centered environment where asking questions is encouraged, not dismissed. We are building a community of women who support, inspire, and learn from one another.

RESPONSIBILITY
Responsible firearm ownership begins with knowledge, sound judgment, and a commitment to safety. We help women develop the skills to handle, operate, carry, and secure firearms responsibly—protecting themselves, their families, and their communities through consistent training and intentional practice.
7 things every woman should know before she ever needs them.
